Summer Self Care Acupressure & the Fire Element with Megan Hettich – Tuesday, July 10, 2018
In the first part of our workshop, we’ll discuss an overview of the Fire Element according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. We’ll take a deeper look at which organs and emotions are associated with the summer season, finding ways to bring more balance into our lives during this time of year. During summer, the color is red, the taste is bitter, and the emotion is joy. It’s a time to feel happy and laugh freely. From an internal perspective, it’s the season related to the heart and small intestine. We’ll dive deeper into bringing harmony into our organs through our activities and diet.
In the second part of our workshop, we’ll explore some self-care practices using qi gong & acupressure techniques to move stagnant energy in the body. Summer is such a busy time where all of our energy is moving outward. It’s important to stay balanced by taking time for self-healing to maintain your optimal well-being.
Prepare for a practice that will free the body of tension and stress. We’ll play with brushing and tapping the meridians (energy lines) of the heart and small intestine. We’ll also partner up to practice acupressure techniques on one another for some deeper relaxation. Come solo or bring a friend; we’ll make sure everyone has a partner to practice with.
