Living in Harmony with the Seasons:
Summer Yoga Series with Megan Hettich
Thursday, June 22 2017
6:30pm to 8:30pm
Are You Curious about how the Change of Seasons Impact Our Bodies, Our Emotions and the World Around Us?
Coming into summer, the season of the fire element, we are at the peak of our energy in the calendar year upon us. It’s a time of outward expansion, when we can experience long days filled with sunshine, and truly a time of abundance. Whatever we have been cultivating in the spring season, will shine through in these summer months ahead.
The 2-Hour Workshop: How it Breaks Down!
In the first part of our workshop, we’ll discuss an overview of the seasons according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. We’ll take a deeper look at which organs and emotions are associated with the summer season, finding ways to bring more balance into our lives during this time of year. During summer, the color is red, the taste is bitter, and the emotion is joy. It’s a time to feel happy and laugh freely. From an internal perspective, it’s the season related to the heart and small intestines. We’ll dive deeper into bringing harmony into our organs through our activities and diet.
Time to get up and stretch your legs and grab a sip of water.
75-Minute Yoga Practice:
In the second part of our workshop, we’ll get moving with a Hatha style yoga class, targeting the organs & meridians associated with summer. All levels of yogis welcome, as modifications will be offered throughout class. Prepare for postures that bring energy and opening to the heart and small intestines. You’ll leave this workshop with better self-awareness, as well as cleaner space in the body and mind to take advantage of all the benefits the summer season has to offer.
