Living in Harmony with the Seasons:
Fall Yoga Series with Megan Hettich
Sunday, October 1, 2017
1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Ever Feel Like Fall is Coming and It is Stirring Up Emotions and Unconscious Changes Within?
The Ancient studies of Traditional Chinese Medicine have long acknowledged the role of the seasons and elements in bringing balance and wellness to our bodies; physically, mentally and spiritually. As you move from the long days of summer, into the cooler days and earlier nights of fall, you can learn to align yourself with nature. Fall is the season of the metal element, a time when you can surround yourself with the beautiful colors among the trees and breathe deeply, enjoying the cool, crisp air of the season.
Curious how the Change of Seasons Impacts Our Bodies, Our Emotions and the World Around Us?
In the first part of this workshop, Megan will discuss an overview of the seasons according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. She’ll take a deeper look at which organs and emotions are associated with the fall season, finding ways to bring more balance into your life during this time of year. During fall, the color is white, the taste is pungent, and the emotion is grief/letting go. It’s a time to begin slowing down and looking inward, as the days become shorter. From an internal perspective, it’s the season related to the lungs and large intestines. You’ll learn to bring harmony into your organs through your activities and diet.
In the second part of our workshop, you’ll move through a Hatha style yoga class, targeting the organs & meridians associated with fall. All levels of yogis are welcome, as modifications will be offered throughout class. Prepare for postures that bring balance and opening to the lungs and large intestines, preparing your body for the fall season ahead. You’ll leave this workshop with better self-awareness, and cleaner space in the body and mind to take advantage of all the benefits the season has to offer.
