Heat and Humidity

It’s that time of year when nature helps us pump extra humidity into the Hot Yoga room, making the temperatures feel hotter and our bodies sweat more. Remember to make sure you are hydrating both before and after class. A note about sweat: air flow across the skin is what helps the body break sweat and cool down. When you wipe sweat into the skin you actually hinder your body’s ability to cool down. Hand towels are best used to wipe hands, feet and ankles only when we are getting so sweaty we are slipping with our grip. And finally, as the weather settles into warmer, more humid summer temperatures we will all get better acclimated to the heat. Just breath through the transition.
