Yoga Fix began almost fifteen years ago and has evolved from a two person staff conducting classes in a small 20 person yoga room to a thriving, spacious studio able to accommodate up to 50 people per class in our hot studio and a second 20 person room for non-heated classes. We have moved from Westport, to Mission Woods, to our permanent home in Mission, Kansas with the purchase of our building and consequent renovation from top to bottom in 2013.
Our large staff of certified instructors lead a variety of yoga classes including Hot Yoga, Yoga Flow, Hatha and Deep Stretch as well as other specialty classes and workshops.
While we have seen many changes over the past fifteen years, the commitment to sharing the healing and revitalizing effects of yoga on the body and mind and to restore health and balance to people’s lives is still very much the vision of the owner, Mary Horvatin, and the staff at Yoga Fix Studio. While the studio will remain true to the Hot-Style Yoga which is the core of our practice, we have grown in our knowledge and offerings by adding a well-rounded assortment of non-heated classes to further enhance your yoga practice.
Yoga Fix Studio Philosophy
I personally believe that yoga is truly one of the best workouts you can do to maintain the health of your body, mind and spirit. Eastern civilization has recognized the practice for its incredible preventative and therapeutic health benefits on the body, mind and spirit for thousands of years. Western culture is just now learning to embrace this ancient discipline. With a regular routine of yoga, it is possible to lessen the effects of stress, maintain flexibility, increase muscle tone, melt fat, cleanse toxins from the system, and increase your cardiovascular system all of which help keep you healthy – mind, body and spirit. You will find you get sick less often, have more energy, experience less joint and muscle pain, increase your physical strength, have better determination and focus and that’s just a few of the benefits.
We live in a culture and an age where we are encouraged to be sedentary and practice poor dietary habits, all the while asking our body and mind to perform at increased levels of stress and mental activity. As a result our culture has experienced an increase in disease and health issues both physical and emotional. Whether you are experiencing a stress overload, looking to lose weight, need more energy, want to look and feel better, I encourage you to try yoga. If you only do one thing for yourself, only create one space to give back to you, I truly hope it will be your dedication to a regular practice of yoga. I think you will be surprised at how much yoga will give you in return.
I truly believe yoga is more than a workout, it is a lifelong practice that done regularly will help keep you younger – mind, body and spirit. I have seen and experienced the effects of this discipline. I believe we all have the power to heal ourselves and to help keep ourselves from succumbing to disease caused by poor nutrition, stress, lifestyle and environment – I believe yoga is one of the best preventative and therapeutic disciplines available to us. Yoga will not bring about a change in one day or one week this is an evolving practice – a gift you give to you to yourself for increase health and happiness. Give us a month and see the changes begin, give us two and three months and I think you will be amazed at the changes your body will experience. Give yourself a lifetime of yoga practice and it will return the favor by giving you a lifetime!
My Personal Vision
Finally, I’d like to say that at Yoga Fix Studio, my vision is to create a community of health-minded people. My goal is to create an environment and space in which you can take time out from your busy schedule and do something truly healthy – just for you. I want everyone who walks through my door to feel welcome and at home; a place where you can come just for a good workout at our variety of classes or for more information on how to live a healthier life in one of our workshops. Because I truly care about your health and well-being, I think it is important that you feel a sense of community, attending one of our studio events or just sharing conversation with our staff or fellow yogis. We all share this planet and my goal is to spread a little more warmth, good health, laughter and joy to the people who grace my doorstep. Welcome to Yoga Fix Studio – I do hope you will come experience this for yourself.
